Once you grow out of the standard capsule, the Perception 200 and 220 (basically the same mic) can easily be modded with a better capsule. Except for the cheapest LDC (which has an LDC-like body, but is an SDC electret inside) most of these shine. What's very much worth it's price in the current AKG range, is the Perception range. I've got a D112 for the kick and C518m's for everything else (including the snare). I've been using some really cheap Behringer mics for a few years, mainly for live situations (in which they do fine), they're also not too bad for recording but I've got the opportunity to replace them (they were ВЈ40 for the pair!).ДЄll of my other mics for the drums are AKG.
